Somewhere in October

By

It was a grace-filled remembrance.

As I was about to turn another chapter of my life, I found myself setting plans in place, only to watch them unravel. What a beautiful mess it became. A surrendered heart, a humbling year.

I never doubted the promise, but perhaps it was time to loosen my grip on the land I had held onto for so long. No wonder You were shaking things up.

I thought this year would remain a hidden season. In fact, I asked You to keep me hidden still. Yet when I prayed for realignment, for my life to move in step with the rhythm of Your will, You chose to bring things into the light.

I wonder, when did my desires begin to change?

I no longer long for the land You once promised. I no longer see myself in that place. Or perhaps it is simply on hold, waiting for Your appointed time.

Now, my soul longs for only one thing: You.

The answer to every desire of my heart has never been a place, a position, or a promise fulfilled. It has always been Your presence.

The remnants of my past no longer linger in the shadows. Through people, places, praises, processes, purpose, and promises, You have made Your heart known to me.

I’ve come to learn that true desire is allowing God to place His desires within your heart. And when He does, He will answer the very desires He planted. He will bring them to pass in His time and in His way.

Your conversations, your actions, and even your reactions begin to come under His loving rule.

There is no need to get ahead of God or tell Him how the story should unfold. There is peace in quiet assurance, knowing that He holds every detail and every outcome in His hands.

So this season is not about chasing what is next. It is about discovering all that God has for me right here, right now.

And perhaps that is enough.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28
