Find someone who puts wind in your sails. 

So there’s this book I’m reading that gives so much depth into what the statement above tries to tell me. So, I call this generation a lovesick generation, people are longing for the love that would fill the desires of their hearts. I too, am searching for it from relationship, friends, family to achievements, work, success. It exhaust me every time I looked into it. It’s draining my energy out. Having a relationship with God does not excuse it either, there are still times, no, a lot of times I find myself being “in the doldrums” that’s what the book calls it-lifeless, bored, restless. Experienced it? I’m sure we all do. You see, you know where you want to go, what to do, but you’re just stuck in the zone, staying afloat because there’s no life in it, no wind, drifting into a dead zone wherein there’s no motivation at all. We felt like zombies especially during this time of pandemic. There’s no movement at all, no directions. We are doing the right things, going to church, serving, meeting together, but lost that fire comparing to the very first moment we encountered God in our life and still have that worldly pleasure, most of us gives a lot of time in our work, community, entertainment and so on. Why? We are humans, we are carnal. We want to have enough Jesus in us and got a little bit of world in us. So we find ourselves got stuck in the doldrums. Sailors tries to avoid it all times, that’s why they have compass with them to navigate or oftentimes got drifted to the doldrums because of storms. Just like you and me, when we got hit by a great storm just like this pandemic, instead of running to him, we run from him without even realizing that we are slowly drifting apart. That little seed of entertainment, work, success, pleasure grows the gap away from the shore where you cannot see anything but staying afloat, going with the flow in this seemingly half hearted relationship with the Creator. And while were at it, we even try harder to fill those moments to seem like were doing something: stay later at the office, read and pray, serve, hang out, and all those filling the gap moments so to speak. And we end up burned out, physically, mentally, emotionally exhausted.

The statement struck me knowing that I really have to find someone who puts wind in my sails. Someone who will give me the confidence and the respect of every decision I have in every area of my life. Well, that is true from last year’s encounter with it. Amazingly, He gives me a clearer picture, what it means, not in my context but His.

A lot of times we are consumed by the works that we tend to neglect the power of the Holy Spirit.

Just like the wind, He is unpredictable.

If you’re stuck in the doldrums and don’t know how to move forward, let Him be your greatest confidante, the Spirit is the ultimate wind in your sails.

He guides you to your truest self and your most abundant life.

No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, Never so much as imagined anything quite like it — What God has arranged for those who love him.

But you’ve seen and heard it because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you. The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. — 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 The Message

I’ve been looking for that someone who is already in me!
